Q: Are your products organic?
A: We believe in using organic. Our first product line - TIGRIS sesame butters - contain all certified organic ingredients. However, after spending several months within the certification process, our products are not certified organic themselves. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to know more about our experience with organic certification.
Q: Do your products contain nuts?
A: No nuts of any kind are in our product, but our products are manufactured in a facility that also processes tree nuts (but not peanuts). Our manufacturer has two separate facilities for production: one that processes peanuts, and one that processes tree nuts. The facility in which our seed butters are produced is peanut-free. Your safety is paramount -- please contact us for any additional questions on this.
Q: Are your products gluten-free?
A: Yes, our products are naturally gluten-free.
Q: Are your products vegan?
A: Yes, our products are naturally vegan, though not certified. Our TIGRIS sesame butters are sweetened with agave syrup.
Q: Are your products kosher?
A: No, our products are not currently certified kosher at this time, though all of our ingredients are certified kosher. We will be working on kosher certification
Q: Where do your sesame seeds come from?
A: The sesame seeds that form the base of our tahini are from Mexico. The sesame seeds that are added whole come from India. Very little sesame crop is grown in the United States, but we hope to see that change one day soon!
Q: Where can I find your products?
A: As we work on our retail partnerships, you can purchase our products here at the website.
Q: Why do you use plastic instead of glass?
A: This is a great question, and one that we struggle with A LOT. Different lifecycle analysis studies come to different conclusions as to which is the more environmentally friendly option -- glass is very energy intensive in production, even though it may be reused more often or break down more easily. In all likelihood, the origin and supply chain of your packaging likely matters more than the choice of material. We've made a conscious decision for now to use recycled PET plastic jars over glass in order to ensure integrity of the product during shipping and keep shipping costs down for our customers. We are always open to learning about new sustainable packaging options. As we scale, we will continue to work diligently to minimize our environmental footprint in all aspects of the company.
Q: Do you partner with any non-profits or causes?
Yes, as a partner of 1% For The Planet, at least 1% of all sales go towards environmental non-profits. We will be highlighting our organizations of choice with a dedicated section of our website. For any requests for donated product, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
